Rats in me kitchen – what am I gonna do?
I was always a little too relaxed about hygiene in my home, but I recently saw rats in my kitchen. I knew from that moment on I would have to be a lot more concerned about it, so I gave the room, and the whole house, a thorough clean-up. And that included using disinfectant on all the surfaces and in the cupboards.
I also checked for their presence in my garden, because I’d read that they could nest in the undergrowth. I didn’t see anything, but for peace of mind I also contacted a local pest control company. They had a good look around before laying bait traps and poisons in various parts of the property.
Since then, I haven’t seen a single rodent, or noticed the tell-tale signs of droppings close to the food storage areas. One thing is certain, if they appear again I will be straight on to the phone again.

Wasps – the most hated insects in the world?
Wasps have to be one of the most irritating insects on the face of the earth. They sound angry all the time, and they are also hugely aggressive little devils. I don’t know any other insect that will literally chase you around even when you’ve done nothing to provoke it.
So you can imagine how pleased I am by the fact that we now seem to have a wasp’s bike in our roof. The wee blighters seem to be everywhere at the moment, and I feel like I’m taking my life in my hands every time I venture out of my front door. It’s definitely got to go. I’ll be on the phone to the pest control man this afternoon.
