Family entertainment – fun for all ages
Every weekend in the summer, my children regularly badger my wife and I to take them to the seaside. We don’t take a lot of persuading, however, because we love spending time together. There are several superb resorts that are within easy driving distance of our home, so we can enjoy some family entertainment in no time.
We have one consistent rule, however, and that is that we must have an ice cream while walking along the beach at around four in the afternoon. It has rapidly become a tradition among us, and one which we all enjoy immensely.

Days out in Scotland – enjoy the heritage
My wife and I work extremely hard throughout the week, but on Sundays we always make sure we spend quality time with the children. Through the summer months, we like to visit the seaside, taking long walks on the beach and eating fish and chips along the promenade.
There are so many destinations to enjoy days out in Scotland, including several fine resorts, such as Ayr and Portobello. And when winter comes along, we love to visit some of the superb castles and historic homes that are found throughout the region. My favourite place is Edinburgh, because I love the heritage.

Highland games, Edinburgh – a test of strength and skill
A few friends and I participated in a mini Highland Games in Edinburgh the other week. I can’t recommend it highly enough – it was very well organised and everyone had an excellent time.
The events included such Scottish specialities as tossing the caber, welly throwing and the tug o’ war. It was more of a laugh than a real competition, although some of our group did get a bit carried away and took things a little too seriously… (mentioning no names, of course)
All in all it was a fantastic way to spend the day, and it was an event I’m sure we’ll all remember for a long time to come.
