Anti Mouche Enters Family Legend!
Had a great late-summer camping holiday in the Vendee the other week, largely thanks to Anti Mouche – a new phrase which has entered family vocabulary and legend!
It’s the French for fly control, and we really needed it on our trip. To be honest we probably should have thought of this before we left the UK, but, in late August, I didn’t think insects would be a problem.
But flies were in our tent, buzzing around outside, invading the wash blocks ….they were everywhere!
Unfortunately neither the holiday rep nor the campsite owner were much help, so we looked up fly control at an Internet café then went off to the local supermarché to get some heavy-duty sprays and fly papers, which sorted the problem out.
We had a great time for the rest of the holiday, and our nine-year-old was in hysterics, thinking that what we had bought was something to do with someone’s auntie!

Short holiday in Perthshire and Pitlochry
I’m off on holiday for a week in about a month’s time. I haven’t had any time off in ages, so it will be great to get away for a while. I’m going to Perthshire, Pitlochry to be precise, and while it might not be the most exotic location in the world, it’s a place I know well and really love.
I usually do a lot of running when I’m there, and I’m sure this trip will be no exception. There are miles and miles of excellent tracks in the area, which provide superb running opportunities. One of my favourites is the run up Ben Vrackie – it’s pretty relentless on the way up, but skipping down the steep rocky path on the way back is always great fun.

I’m looking for cheap Los Angeles flights at the moment…
After months and months of saving I think I can finally afford to book the LA holiday I’ve been dreaming about for so long. As a lifelong movie fan it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, so I can’t believe I’m finally going to get the opportunity to realise my dreams. I’ve seen the city so often on celluloid that I feel like I’ve been there many times already, so it’s going to be great to wander about there actually in the flesh.
I’ve been to America before years ago, but never got the chance to visit LA. This time is going to be different – I’m going to spend a full week taking in the sights and sounds.
